Sustainability

Heart + Dart creates two limited collections per year, launching in Spring and Autumn. We work with small, UK based manufacturers, always using natural or recycled materials. We are very conscious of waste and only order in small batches. We ensure all our pieces are high quality for maximum longevity. All packaging is completely plastic free and recyclable. 

Ethics

We only work with companies that have a high standard of sustainable and ethical commitments. Each scarf is hand finished by Ella and packaged with love.

We are currently making moves to expand the range, heading towards an exciting future…

How did you get into making sustainable silk scarves?

I have always had a love for pattern and colour, and scarf designs seemed like the perfect way forward for me! I knew from that start that I wanted to remain sustainable in whatever I do, because I am very aware of the impact of fast fashion and overconsumption.

Where did the inspiration for your prints come from?

My first collection was inspired by designs found on butterfly and moth wings (the name Heart + Dart actually comes from a type of moth). I was initially drawn to moths/butterflies as this is where silk comes from. My second collection evolved from simply playing around with colours on my iPad and discovering this marbling effect.

What’s next for Heart and Dart?

I am currently in the process of restocking my scarves, after this I would love to find the time to design something new, or even start making other pieces - clothes etc.

If you could collaborate with anyone who would it be?

I would love to collaborate with House of Sunny, they are my dream brand and i love everything they are doing/stand for. However one of my next goals is to work with other creatives for styling and photography.

Can you list a couple other creatives/friends/people you look to for inspiration?

My main source of inspiration/critic is my mum, I value her opinion so much. Otherwise I often go to friends Freya, Tash (tashsadierart) and Megan (@megangeorgiasmith).
