Lyle Ingram

A 20 year old visual artist based in Bournemouth, England. My practice consists of conceptual art photography as my main medium of making work. Including the making of ceramics, paintings and print works. My primary influences are artists like Ed Ruscha and John Baldessari. The area I’m currently exploring is the idea of how we measure the world around us using our body as a frame of reference which is featured here in some the images. My practise also includes curating still life’s around my sculptures and ceramics; inspired by painters like Morandi and Magritte. Instagram: @lyleji

Where would you like your work to take you?

I would essentially like my work to get me to a point where I have a studio space that I can in create everyday and be stable enough to do that carefree.

If you could show your work anywhere - where would it be?

I feel quite strongly about people having artwork in their homes, so if someone felt that my work was interesting enough to look at everyday on their wall, I would feel like I’d accomplish something.

What would you like most for people to take away from your work?

There’s a few key elements that I usually like people to think about when viewing my work, sometimes it’s an awareness of human scale relating to the world, also a level of humour. I’d be perfect happy if people found my work funny.

Can you list a couple other creatives/friends/people you look to for inspiration?

My friends Sam Cashmore @sampcashmore Jodie Wilkins @iodiewilkins Lizzie Carrera @lizziecarreraphoto Jordan Ridout @iordanridout are all big inspirations for me, a really talented bunch.
