Anna Rehorovsky

My practice focuses on the visual recording of inner visions and the dialogue with the materials used in the process. My aim is not to convey definite messages, but to leave the viewer room to interpret the images freely, on the basis of their own associations. Instagram: @rehorovszky

Many of these images represent impressions from dreams and meditation, thereby giving physical form to otherwise intangible experiences, while others are simply a play with various forms and materials. I find it interesting how the same symbol can carry countless different meanings simultaneously, especially in the case of abstract and semi-abstract images, or objects out of context.

Where would you like your work to take you?

Above all else, I see artistic expression as an invaluable tool to make sense of my own experiences, and this act of creating makes me happy in itself. Nevertheless, I’m always excited and grateful to see people connecting with my art, whether that’s something on a deeper level, or just finding my work visually pleasing.

If you could pair your work with any piece of music or music genre, what would it be?

As much as music moves and motivates me, I almost always work in complete stillness, so that I can fully immerse myself in the process. I can most easily envision my art accompanied by gentle ambient sounds and abstract soundscapes.

Are the works you create directly translated from your mind or is there a process to documenting your inner visions?

My creative process is a different experience each time, determined by intuitive decision-making. I aim to let things unfold naturally, and not to control the outcome too much, which leads to a relatively wide range of visual languages.

Can you list a couple other creatives/friends/people you look to for inspiration?

I find great inspiration in people who use other art forms in a similar manner to the way I use my own means of visual expression. This often means music and songwriting, such as @scott.rimington, @samanamusic and @ohnody, but I’m also fascinated by the practice of tattoo artist @corrieforeman, and some other fantastic artists and designers, including @samhodgeart, @evanmcohen, @jenguidi, @wangsoderstrom, and many more.
