Larry Pleasant
I Specialize in Illustration and Printmaking. Originally from New Orleans, LA and currently working in Dallas, TX. BFA in Graphic Design and Print Production from Louisiana Tech. Pretty much always been creative. I remember as a kid I would draw all the time in my sketchbooks and collect books on how to draw cartoons like The Simpsons, Manga, Mythical creatures, and Superheroes.
My childhood is the foundation of my work. Particularly I'm inspired by artists like Jacob Lawrence, Elmer Cecil Stoner, Matt Baker, Walter Wick, Martin Handford, Jared Lee, Larry Gonick, Gary Panter, Matt Groening, Aaron Draplin. All my work is informed by fandom for nostalgia, lowbrow art, monsters, fashion, nature, music, and film.

I love character design and being able to create full environments where the subject can interact. Conceptually my illustrations are intended to be whimsical and uplifting. Whenever I draw something new I challenge myself while also staying consistent. I'm so fortunate I have the opportunity and space to create work that excites me and drives my passion for illustration.
Currently, my process involves an HB Pencil, Sketchbook Paper, Scanner, Drawing Tablet, and Adobe Photoshop. Colors are a major factor in my work. I wanna make art that's cohesive yet cluttered with detailed linework. One of my favorite parts of being an Illustrator is being a visual problem solver.
I get a huge sense of fulfillment when drawing and witnessing my work come to life. What I enjoy about making art is being able to create something that can incite an engagement with others and can potentially build relationships. My dream is to make timeless illustrations full-time that uplift the viewer and interest a large demographic.
