Eleanor Sykes
I am an illustrator currently working towards my BA in Cardiff School of Art and Design, within Cardiff Metropolitan University. My work uses colour and absurdity to capture the way in which I interpret the world! I like to comment on the mundanity of life in an imaginative way, bringing initial realistic studies forward into a slightly more obscure and interesting and curious world. Alongside visual journals I document through larger paintings which are textural and colourful expressions of a desire to play and they capture the world through the lense of a childlike idiosyncrasy. What would you like people to take away from your work?
For this work in particular, I hope that it’s a reminder to people to treat themselves and others with love.
If you could show your work anywhere where would it be?
If I could show my work anywhere I think it’d be on the side of a giant hot air balloon in the sky.
If you could pair any piece of music or genre with the dinner what would it be?
Probably So Easy by Röyksopp
If you could collaborate with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?
My dream collaboration would be with Kate Bush
Can you list a couple other creatives/friends/people you look to for inspiration?
Whenever I need a boost I always look at Louise Bourgeois. I also love @megmayoillustrations and @ewegittins
